General Electric names advertising chief

NEW YORK - General Electric, which was last week revealed as America's most valuable corporate brand, has named General Motors Judy Hu as its general manager for corporate advertising and marketing communications.

Hu replaces Richard Costello, who leaves General Electric in September to launch his own brand and research consultancy.

She will report to Beth Comstock, corporate vice-president of communications, and takes responsibility for branding and marketing communications, working with all of GE's business units.

At General Motors, Hu was executive director of the diversity and growth markets areas, responsible for targeting key demographic groups. She was with the company for six years.

She was a senior vice-president of DMB&B in Detroit from 1992 until joining General Motors, and also worked at Leo Burnett in Hong Kong.

"Judy brings a rich array of talents and skills to GE, and we are delighted to welcome her into the company," GE vice-chairman Bob Wright said.
