LONDON - Future Publishing is gearing up for the return of Doctor Who with a one-off special edition of its sci-fi magazine SFX devoted to the BBC show.

The 132-page special goes on sale on 28 March, three days before the third season of the revived show airs.

It aims to lure fans with an interest in the show's history by covermounting 15 out-of-print Dr Who novels from the 1970s and 1980s across the print run.

The May edition of SFX, on sale two weeks later, will continue the promotion by giving away the latest Doctor Who Sticker Collection album before it is available in the shops.

The promotions aim to strengthen the magazine's proposition as Imagine Publishing launches a rival title, Sci-Fi Now, whose first issue goes on sale two days before SFX.
