The 148-page magazines will look back at the big movie stars of each era, revisit iconic movie scenes and profile the top ten films from each year.
The first in the series, Total Film Special Editions: The Nineties, goes on sale on 27 April, priced £5.99 and with a print run of 35,000.
Further editions looking at the Eighties, the Seventies and the Sixties will follow at eight-week intervals, with possible extensions to follow.
The series follows a standalone ad-free 'bookazine' sold through WHSmith last autumn showcasing the 100 greatest movies.
Simon Maxwell, publisher of Total Film, said the series was one of several developments planned for the title this year.
"The specials are something we are already planning to build on and the natural progression following the decades will be to focus on influential directors of specific genres," he said.
"It's all about tapping the growing market of passionate film enthusiasts building their DVD collections."
Total Film's ABC grew by 9.5% in 2005 to 90,642, though its sales dropped by 9.9% in the second half of the year.
