Fernando was previously publishing director at technology publisher IDG Communications and has more than 15 years' commercial experience in publishing.
One of his briefs is to raise the profile of Future's brand and magazine propositions with London media agencies.
Jayne Caple, advertising director at Future, said: "David brings a great deal of experience to Future and his strengths will give our London team the help and support it needs to take our ad sales division to the next level.
