FT promotes Zorthian to global circulation director

LONDON - The Financial Times has promoted Greg Zorthian, vice-president of circulation US, to the position of global circulation director.

Zorthian, who joined the FT in 2004, will be responsible for optimising the circulation and readership of the newspaper, and the development of its print and distribution operations worldwide. He will report directly to John Ridding, chief executive officer of the FT.

Prior to joining the FT, Zorthian worked for more than 30 years at a number of global media companies, including Forbes, Time and Magellan Media Consulting Partners. He joined the FT in 2004, and was most recently vice-president of circulation US.

The FT said Zorthian's appointment was "crucial" to the group, and would aim to build on the increase of the title's global readership and circulation, and maximise its subscription base.

Ridding said: "[The position] is at the core of our strategy of maximising yield and efficiency of our print circulation and building the quality of our circulation, particularly the subscriber base.

"We have established a highly effective global print and distribution operation. Greg's strong global background and the teams we have in place around the world will enable us to extend further our market leadership."
