FT launches European online service

LONDON - The Financial Times began the European roll-out of its financial news services today, (23 June) starting with Ignites Europe.

Money-Media, an online news provider purchased by The FT in January 2008, will launch the online news service, featuring daily e-mail news bulletins, designed for people working with the European cross-border fund industry.

Ignites Europe, A US version of which has existed for the past 10 years, will be edited by Chris Newlands, who will be based at the FT's headquarters in London. The commercial team will be headed by Matt Fottrell.

John Ridding, chief executive of the Financial Times, said the launch was part of the company's strategy to take "market-leading publications to a global audience".

The content - a mixture of original articles and English summaries from other national and trade publications across Europe - focuses primarily on six key areas: sales, marketing, compliance, regulation, technology and operations.
