FT appoints Mackay as Asia regional advertising director

LONDON - The Financial Times has appointed Angela Mackay to the new position of regional advertising director for Asia.

Mackay, who is currently a senior member of the FT's Hong Kong editorial bureau, has almost 20 years' experience as a journalist covering business, finance and politics.

She has spent eight years in Asia working for global media brands across television, magazines and newspapers and was most recently the FT's Asia investment editor. Her role also involved editing the FT's global investing pages and investing in China section.

In her new sales role she will report to Ben Hughes, the FT's global advertising director, and will join the senior management team in Asia, led by Su-Mei Thompson, managing director for the FT in Asia.

"Angela's thorough knowledge of the Asian financial services industry, her strong contacts within the field of business and finance and her strategic ability and commercial acumen will be a great asset to the business. We are delighted that she will be part of the FT's commercial team," Hughes said.

The FT launched its dedicated Asia edition, in print and online, in September 2003, which saw establishment of a news editing operation in Hong Kong.
