Take That to front M&S menswear campaign

LONDON - Take That are the latest pop act to be the face of Marks & Spencer in a multimillion-pound ad campaign launching next month, which showcases the retailer's autumn menswear range.

Band members Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Jason Orange and Howard Donald were photographed by star photographer Rankin, individually and as a group, and will appear in ads to coincide with the launch early next month.

M&S will also be the official sponsor of the band's forthcoming Beautiful World tour.

Take That said: "It's brilliant to be working with such a strong British brand as M&S and to be the faces for the new Autumn Autograph campaign.

"We were really impressed with the Plan A eco-initiative that M&S launched in January and the commitments the company has made towards greener retailing. It's really important to us to work with people who share our values as well as make great clothes!"

Steven Sharp, marketing executive director, said: "Take That have had a phenomenal 12 months and it's great to see them doing so well - long may it continue. We are very excited to have them on board, especially because of their support for our Plan A work which is at the heart of our business. "

The campaign, which was created by Rainey Kelly Campbell Rolfe/Y&R, breaks on October 4 in print and on billboards.

Take That follow in the footsteps of Bryan Ferry, who was dropped by the retailer after apparently praising the Nazis. However, after it broke the Ferry story the Daily Mirror apologised to the singer. Ferry had told the German newspaper Welt Am Sonntag that he admired the work of Leni Riefenstahl, whose films were used as Nazi propaganda tools, and the architect Albert Speer.

The Daily Mirror reported this as "The Nazis were so amazing" and claimed that Ferry had been "singing their praises".

M&S's latest ad campaign to promote its autumn women's wear collection features Twiggy and Myleene Klass outfitted in old-school glamour to board the Orient Express for Venice.

The TV spot, which also includes M&S regulars Laura Bailey, Erin O'Connor and Noemie Lenoir, shows the women wearing items from the new collection, including lingerie and accessories, in a number of luxurious settings inside the train.
