McCall, who has been with the portal for three years, will be responsible for the entire advertising sales division, which comprises a 30-strong department with three teams -- sales, operations and sales strategy.
The sales team itself is divided between agency and client direct sales and overseen by three group heads. Sales operations is managed by Lisa Mundy, with strategic sales headed up by Faye Weeks. McCall will also sit on Freeserve's top team of six portal departmental directors.
Pathy left in November around the same time as portal strategy and marketing director Peter Cowley, who has just been replaced by Caroline Thomas.
McCall will report to managing director of portals Jon Gisby, who said McCall had been a consistent performer in terms of sales and in team building.
"This is Dave's third promotion within the organisation and it has come at a time when the team is going through a period of evolution. We will be placing greater emphasis on delivery, development and relationship management by strengthening the operations and sales strategy teams. Dave's experience and abilities will ensure he leads the team to meet and exceed company targets," Gisby said.
According to McCall: "I want our team to retain and build on its enthusiasm and reputation for efficiency and innovation, enabling us to grow not just Freeserve's market share, but also the industry as a whole. I look forward to the challenges ahead."
