Freddie Ljungberg causes a storm at Calvin Klein poster signing

LONDON – Freddie Ljungberg, star of the latest Calvin Klein Underwear advertising campaign, got more than he bargained for when he turned up to sign posters of the ad as thousands of screaming girls were queueing to meet the Arsenal mid-fielder.

Swedish-born Ljungberg, who wears nothing but his Calvin Klein underwear in the ads, turned up to the Spanish store El Corte Ingles in Barcelona to sign the posters of the ad.

The queue exceeded even the organisers' expectations with thousands queueing outside in the cold before meeting the star.

The poster ad campaign marked the latest outing for Ljungberg, who is represented by football agent Roger Ljung, as the face of Calvin Klein Underwear.

The footballer has been working for the fashion brand since 2003 when work first appeared. Ljungberg has also starred in ads for Nike including its "metro" spot.

Former Calvin Klein underwear models include actors Hilary Swank, Travis Fimmel, Mark Wahlberg and supermodel Kate Moss.

Ljungberg is the first athlete to slip into the role since US Olympic Pole Vaulter Tom Hintnaus, who was the first Calvin Klein men's underwear model in 1982.
