Calvin Klein signs Swank to promote underwear range

LONDON - Oscar-winning actress, star of 'Boys Don't Cry' and former model Hilary Swank is to become the face of Calvin Klein for the upcoming launch of the brand's Sensual Support underwear range.

The new collection will be available in late July and will be promoted through an international print and outdoor media advertising campaign.

Kim Vernon, senior vice-president of global advertising at Calvin Klein, said that Swank conveyed the sensuality that the underwear brand wanted.

"I also think that she is not the expected choice for a women's underwear campaign and these pictures will present her in a way that she has not been seen in her professional work before," she said.

Swank shot to fame in 1999 when she was the surprise winner of the best actress Oscar for her role in the film 'Boys Don't Cry'. Since then she has appeared alongside Al Pacino and Robin Williams in the 2002 movie 'Insomnia' and alongside Aaron Eckhart in last year's disaster movie 'The Core'.

She joins Kate Moss and Christy Turlington on the list of those who have also modelled for Calvin Klein. Last month the fashion brand signed actress Scarlett Johansson to become the face of a new Calvin Klein fragrance.
