Edwards replaces previous marketing director Rachel Moffatt and will be responsible for all brand marketing, insight, category and trade marketing and innovation for a portfolio of brands including Rocky, Classic and Echo.

She will sit on the board of management and report to Colin Smith, who was appointed as Fox Biscuit's managing director in December, to replace interim managing director Stewart Gilliand.

A spokesman said Fox's Biscuits owner 2 Sisters Food Group is moving the commercial function of Fox's Biscuits to Birmingham in order to "create a centre of excellence".

Edwards was UK marketing director for the Dulux brand between May 2010 and December 2012.

She had worked on the Dulux brand, part of Akzo Nobel after the company’s 2008 acquisition of ICI Paints, since 2000.

Edwards’ responsibilities at Dulux have been taken on by Ann Marie O'Riordan, who was promoted from head of marketing of Dulux Paints Ireland to head of consumer brands at Akzo Nobel, in January.
