Sites for Israel, Germany and the UK launched in January. Seven more are planned to roll out as local championships get under way. The sites, which were created in-house, can be accessed via a dropdown menu on local Fox Kids web sites - www.foxkids.co.uk in the UK.
The initiative aims to build excitement around the event, which is expected to attract more than 200,000 under-13s across 24 countries. The final will take place in June in the Netherlands.
The local sites will contain news, games, message boards, quizzes, screensavers and down-loads. Live chats with previous finalists are planned on the UK site, along with a multi-player game during the final.
"Kids will be able to select other players to challenge, and communicate with them during the game by choosing from a range of pre-selected quotes such as 'good goal'," said Charlie Monro, European interactive producer at Fox Kids. Most sites will also contain information on how children can get involved with the cup, although the UK site will not, as its tournaments are being run through schools.
