Foster's plans SMS debut to build database

Brewer Scottish Courage is to launch its first mobile marketing campaign for its Foster's lager brand.

The campaign, which will run until the end of August, will see Foster's sponsor barbecues at more than 250 Scottish Courage pubs.

The activity aims to build a mobile database of Scottish Courage customers by offering patrons the chance to win a barbecue in Australia by submitting a text message to Foster's 'G'Day for a Barbie' promotion.

Each pub will have its own SMS contact number so the brewer can gather database information based on each outlet. Mobile marketing firm 12snap is managing the campaign.
