Fat Unicorn’s agency division creates bespoke interactive experiences for brand teams and has created more than 30 new applications since .

The agency has won nine high profile accounts from brands including Barclays, Sky and 2K Games and has doubled the size of its team. Staples is the latest in a series of appointments, which included the addition of Sledge’s Daniella Saleh as account manager earlier this year.

Staples will be responsible for overseeing and heading up the agency’s account teams, managing and growing existing client accounts, as well as identifying, creating and developing commercial opportunities among existing and new clients to maximise revenue growth. He will also be responsible for inputting into the strategic direction of the company and client accounts.

Having previously held the roles of country director and client services director at Wasserman, where he oversaw the activation of Vodafone’s McLaren F1, London Fashion Week and Capital FM Summertime Ball partnerships, Staples joins Fat Unicorn at a pivotal stage for the company, which currently has a strong strategic focus on international growth, with plans to move into the US in the coming months.

While at Wasserman, Staples also established the group’s Doha office and lead operations in support of the 2022 FIFA World Cup delivery programme.

Ru Barksfield, Fat Unicorn co-founder and CEO, said: "As we grow, securing an agency director has been key to driving our expansion both internally and externally. Dan’s skillset and knowledge of global markets are assets that we are pleased to welcome on board. Dan, along with our other recent key hires, will see Fat Unicorn continue to push the boundaries of digital invention."

Staples added: "I’m really enjoying being part of such a creative and dynamic team, who are focused on delivering only the very best of digital to their clients. Fat Unicorn’s passion and understanding of how digital and technology feed into building truly innovative brand experiences is inspiring and I’m looking forward to our future together."
