Former Capital sales head joins First Radio Sales

National radio agency First Radio Sales has appointed former Capital Radio head of sales Tony Mellor as sales director.

Mellor, who left Capital in the GWR merger in 2004 to join ABC Media, will be responsible for all trading from First Radio Sales’ London office and will report to managing director Neil Webster.

He joined the company in November to advise on sales strategy and takes up the new role today, replacing James Davis.

Following his appointment Mellor spoke about his passion for radio. “The connection that local radio has with the listener is a hugely powerful one,” he said. “Wherever you are in the country and whichever station you listen to, you have that connection with it, which I think is fantastic.”

In his 17 years in media, Mellor has also worked at Media Sales and Marketing and Piccadilly Radio.
