Tate is the third GCap employee to leave for Folder Media, which is run by GCap's former corporate development team, Gregory Watson and Matt Deegan.
The appointment comes as Ofcom announced today that MuxCo has been awarded the digital multiplex licence for North Yorkshire.
MuxCo was created earlier this year to work on behalf of smaller radio companies by partnering in local digital multiplex applications, which are often too expensive for companies to enter into individually.
The North Yorkshire application was a joint venture between MuxCo and The Local Radio Company (TLRC).
The North Yorks multiplex is the first that TLRC has secured a DAB license for, and will ensure that its radio stations Minster FM, Stray FM and Yorkshire Coast Radio will be available on digital radio from June 2009.
This is the third local multiplex win for MuxCo, which has previously competed with GCap in all its applications, although this bid was uncontested.
