Five will produce its own content for the MTV Europe Music Awards, including pre-show programming, behind-the-scenes footage and tailored promotions. The deal also includes commitments to promote and market the awards.
Details on whether the broadcast would be live or follow after the event were not forthcoming at the time of publication.
Brent Hansen, president of creative at MTV Networks International and president of MTV Networks Europe, said: "The MTV Europe Music Awards consistently deliver high ratings figures across all demographics. We are delighted to be working with Five and this partnership will undoubtedly ensure another ratings winner."
Among the sponsors of last year's EMAs were Foot Locker, Replay Blue Jeans, L'Oreal Paris Studio Line and HP.
The EMAs were shown by Channel 4 from 2001 to 2004, a few days after the event.
The other events included in the "multimillion-dollar" deal are the US-based MTV Video Music Awards and MTV Movie Awards.
Scheduled for June 4 in Los Angeles, the 14th annual Movie Awards include categories such as Best Kiss and Best Action Sequence, and feature musical performances.
The 22nd annual MTV Video Music Awards takes place on August 28 in Miami.
Sham Sandhu, Five's controller of pop features and special events, said: "We're looking forward to making this deal a reality in order to bring these exciting, talked-about awards shows direct to our viewers."
