The series, which hits the airwaves on Monday 13 October, is being presented by journalist John Suchet and produced by Fremantle Media.
The new-look version is a live 60-minute general knowledge quiz with four studio contestants from across the UK. They will compete to become the daily champion and win a cash prize.
The programme will comprise three classic rounds: Beat the Buzzer, Four in a Row and Head-to-Head. Each winner will then be given the chance to return on the next edition to defend their title.
In addition to the daily show, there will be Going for Gold Extra, a 10-minute programme at 2.50pm each day on Five that pits the winner of the daily show head-to-head with an interactive winner at home, for the chance to win a cash prize.
Going for Gold was first broadcast in 1987 and ran for nearly a decade. A 25-minute weekday quiz featuring contestants from across Europe, the show was presented by Henry Kelly.
Its revival follows the news last week that ITV is planning to revive The Krypton Factor and UKTV will screen a new one-off Red Dwarf as part of its winter schedule for Dave.
