Five festivals to watch out for in early 2016

While many associate the word 'festival' with the summer, the year has already seen a number of festival events take place, with more planned for the coming months.

Taking place at the moment is the UK’s first Magical Lantern Festival, which opened at Chiswick House & Gardens yesterday (3 February). The immersive experience has been created in celebration of Chinese New Year and features a total of 50 lantern installations, along with performances and Chinese cuisine.

Transport for London is to host a series of themed festivals in a pop-up space at London’s Old Street Underground station. Each will focus on a different theme, from sport and music to fashion and technology. The first and current festival explores the theme of health and wellbeing, and includes fitness classes and interactive artwork.

The event promises immersive experiences for wristband holders

Beer festival Craft Beer Rising (CBR 2016) looks set to welcome a host of brand experiences if last year was anything to go by. Taking place from 26-27 February at the Old Truman Brewery in London’s Brick Lane, the event forms part of London Beer Week, with a Lost in Cyder Space area and beer tasting experience planned.

Glamour magazine recently announced plans to host its first Beauty Festival at London’s Saatchi Gallery in March (12-13). Held in association with Fiat, the event will see a number of brands, such as Ghd, Chandon and of course Fiat, activating at the event, offering treatments, advice and other beauty-related experiences.

While Vogue has hosted festivals before, this year will mark 100 years for the brand, with a specially-created hub on the East Albert Lawn in London’s Kensington Park to be the location for the 2016 offering. It will take place from 21-22 May, with special talks and a birthday dinner planned.
