Firefighter drama headlines Sky One's winter schedule

LONDON - Denis Leary's acclaimed post-9/11 drama 'Rescue Me' is headlining Sky One's winter season alongside returning series of 'Nip/Tuck', '24' and 'The Simpsons'.

'Recue Me' is a 13-part drama series that focuses on life in New York Fire Department post September 11. Former comedian Leary, best known for his 'No Cure for Cancer' tour and his role in 'The Thomas Crown Affair', plays a firefighter in the series.

The role is a personal one for Leary. His cousin was a firefighter who died in action in 1999.

As well as starring in the drama, Leary is one of the drama show's executive producers.

Popular cosmetic surgery series 'Nip/Tuck' returns for a second series, teaming up mother and daughter act Joely Richardson and Vanessa Redgrave on-screen for the first time. Famke Janssen, star of 'X Men', also joins the Miami-based drama that follows the lives of two plastic surgeons.

Kiefer Sutherland stars as Jack Bauer in the fourth series of award-winning drama '24'. In the latest outing, Bauer is working for the secretary of defence James Heller, played by William Devane, while secretly romantically involved with his daughter.

'Nip/Tuck' and '24' will air on Sunday nights from January 2005, while Sky ratings stalwart 'The Simpsons' returns for its 16th series.

A new Wednesday night documentary strand includes Bob Geldof's daughter's take on adolescent life in 'Peaches Geldof: Inside the Mind of a Teenager' and journalist Julie Burchill's insight into the "chav" culture, 'Chavs and Me'.

The Sun columnist Jane Moore gives an appraisal of the UK's most famous couple in 'Who are the Beckhams?'.

'Pop Idol' judge Nikki Chapman explores the sub-layers of US society dedicated to looking after the whims of the super rich in 'Made in LA' and a documentary unearthing Michael Jackson's child sex scandal in 'Camp Michael Jackson' also features in 2005.

Sky One is to make a UK version of 'Entertainment Tonight' featuring Hollywood gossip from UK stars like Kelly Brook and Kate Beckinsale who live in the US.

The primetime show will feature footage from film premieres, interviews with stars and entertainment news with a distinctly British slant.
