LONDON (Brand Republic) - International football body Fifa has won the rights to use the domain name Fifa-world-cup.com, after taking its case against a “cybersquatter” to court of arbitration.
The World Intellectual Property Organisation, an arm of the UN, ruled that the domain name, which was registered by Jonathan Nutt from Kent, must be handed to Fifa’s marketing company, ISL Marketing.
ISL claimed that Nutt had registered more than 100 domain names, hoping to auction them off to the highest bidder.
