FHM UK business director post goes to teen mag publishing director

LONDON - Emap has appointed an internal candidate Rimi Atwal to oversee FHM's UK operations in a restructure following the resignation of publishing director James Carter in April.

Atwal takes up the new role of business director and will be in charge of all FHM properties, from the magazine to its website, bi-annual style magazine FHM Collections, and its TV channel spin-off, which launches tomorrow on Sky, NTL and Telewest.

She currently holds the roles of teen group publishing director, covering Smash Hits, Sneak and Bliss, and publishing director of Mixmag.

Joining FHM on June 13, she will head a team of 15 including editorial director James Mannion and director of cross-media sales James Mallinson.

Advertising responsibilities remain with Andrew Morley, who was named commercial director in February.

David Pullan, managing director of FHM Worldwide, said: "Rimi's experience across Emap's teen portfolio and her understanding of FHM's unique brand positioning will enable her to take FHM's UK business to the next level."

Before joining Emap in 2001, Atwal was publisher for TV Hits and All About Soap at Attic Futura, which was bought by Hachette Filipacchi in 2002.

FHM's circulation in the second half of 2004 was 580,027, up 1.1% from the first half of 2004. It is the men's monthly market leader, selling just over 245,000 more copies than second-placed Maxim.
