Fergie joins BBC to co-host Steve Wright's R2 show

LONDON - She's sold china, diet plans and done some reporting, and now the Duchess of York is to interview celebrities as co-host of Steve Wright's afternoon show on BBC Radio 2.

According to a BBC report, Sarah Ferguson will spend three days a week in the studio interviewing celebrities including Cilla Black and Sir Richard Attenborough.

The new role came up after she was a recent guest on 'The Wright Show', best known for its long-running brand of wacky humour, and was invited to come back as a presenter and interviewer.

Joining Radio 2 is just her latest attempt at some kind of media career. In the US, on the back of her work for Weight Watchers, she has worked for NBC's Today programme as a special correspondent as well as spots of interviewing for the ABC and CBS networks.

Back in the UK, she has fronted news reports for ITV's news and current affairs show 'Tonight with Trevor McDonald' and presented her own chat show on Sky One, 'Sarah - Surviving Life', which was savaged by critics.

Apart from being divorced from Prince Andrew, the Duchess is best known for signing lucrative deals with Weight Watchers in the US, where she has become a household name.

On Wright's long-running afternoon show, which draws an audience of 6.3m listeners, she will work alongside Wright and his co-hosts Tim Smith and Janey Lee Grace.
