In the new post, which is effective immediately, Wall will manage all non-US operations for the Publicis Groupe-owned network's offices in London, Hong Kong, Sao Paulo, Singapore and Tokyo, as well as spearhead any future international expansion.
He will report to chairman and founder of the agency, Pat Fallon. The North American operations, which include offices in Minneapolis and New York, will continue to report directly to Fallon.
The international offices had previously reported to worldwide president David Lubars, who was poached as chairman and chief creative officer of Omnicom's BBDO North America in June. Fallon is still searching for an executive creative director in the wake of Lubars' departure.
Similarly, in May, Lowe Group Worldwide recruited Mark Goldstein from Fallon's New York office to focus on winning new business for the troubled network, naming him as global chief marketing officer.
Pat Fallon said in a statement: "Creating this position shows our belief in Michael as a leader as well as Fallon's serious commitment to expanding our global presence.
"While Fallon plans to expand internationally, we will do it skillfully and remain true to the unique qualities of the Fallon brand. I am 100% confident Michael is the right person for this job."
Wall, 37, started his career at DMB&B as a graduate, then moved to Lowe as an account manager. He joined Fallon in 1998.
In the UK, Fallon recently confirmed plans to launch two joint ventures with Naked Communications. The operations are intended to exploit opportunities beyond traditional advertising channels and raise the stakes in digital communication planning and consultancy.
