Called Super Photos, the application is Facebook’s first deep API integration since its overhaul in June, and means that users of the networking site can both upload and print photos with one click.

It also enables users to print any pre-existing Facebook albums and to send web-sized copies of their albums to friends on Facebook.

Lawrence Merritt, marketing director at Photobox, said: "This application will give millions of users sharing their photos with Facebook the option to print them with our next day photo service.

"The application has huge implication for the social web, which we believe is not just a place to network virtually, but also a place to create real-world products."

Facebook is the most popular networking site in the UK, visited by 14.2m Britons, or 39.7% of the active UK internet population, last month, according to Nielsen Online.
