Marsella joins the university to increase awareness of the brand globally as an international research and teaching institution.

Marsella has worked at IBM and Samsung, responsible for building Samsung's retail presence and strategic marketing alliances with brands such as Chelsea FC.

He left Samsung in June 2008, having joined in 2006 with responsibility for overseeing marketing across each of the company's UK divisions, including mobile, TV, home entertainment, IT and appliances.

Samsung drafted in Sony's former general manager of marketing, Mikah Martin-Cruz, to replace Marsella in October.
