Laurent Sellier was most recently the director of product at Twitter, where he focused on strategy for the social network’s redesign and mobile app suite, as well as its expansion into emerging markets. Beforehand, Sellier headed the team behind Amazon’s Kindle launch.

At Eventbrite, Sellier will oversee the company’s overall product strategy, including the expansion of ticketing and registration technology designed for events professionals, and mobile and web discovery products for consumers.

Speaking about his move, Sellier said: "Eventbrite’s traction on the organiser side of the business has been extraordinary, and I’m thrilled to be on board to build a robust attendee discovery product, and bring to life the events marketplace that is waiting to happen on Eventbrite."

Kevin Hartz, chief executive of Eventbrite, added: "There are few people in the world that have the depth and breadth of experience we are looking for as we build our discovery product and round out Eventbrite as the global marketplace for live experiences.

"Laurent’s passion for Eventbrite combined with the wealth of experience he brings from Twitter and Amazon in discovery, mobile, social, consumer and marketplace businesses is unmatched, and we are thrilled to have him lead our worldwide product strategy."

Sellier joins the executive team at Eventbrite at the same time as April Chang, vice president of consumer engineering and David Good, director of discovery engineering, both of whom were hired by the company this summer.
