Owen spoke to Event about his work with Lionel Richie, dream of working on the event calendar at Goodwood Estate and his desire to change the way clients procure agencies.
I got into the event industry because… Following a short career in sports marketing, I wanted the opportunity to improve the way corporate brands marketed themselves through events and brand experiences.
I have worked here since 2004, when I founded the agency.
I was attracted to this particular role because I am an entrepreneur and wanted to create an agency with that spirit and attitude, to go beyond and better serve clients.
Not many people know that I swam competitively for my county at the age of 10.
The best event I’ve been involved with was an automotive event we produced in Miami for 580 guests, which included chartering two jumbo jets, renting three hotels and a baseball stadium and securing Lionel Ritchie.
If I could do it all over again I would be a leader in the world of tech.
The one thing I can’t stand is when people are late to work or meetings.
Outside of work I spend my time by the coast in Lewes with my gorgeous wife and three children, and sometimes I get the chance to improve my golf swing.
If money were no object I would travel the world in a yacht with my family.
If I could switch places with anyone else in the industry it would be Lord March – I would love the opportunity to run the annual Goodwood Estate event calendar. From dealing with all the automotive manufacturers through to creating a high end event catering capability... Genius.
If I ruled the event industry I would change the process by which clients procure agencies, and the lack of loyalty that engenders which sadly dominates the industry.
