Sutcliffe joined Ministry of Sound as general manager of the company’s tours and events arm, and within six months he was promoted to head up the divison.
I got into the event industry because nothing compares to the feeling of experiencing music in a live setting, both as a fan and as an event organiser. The buzz I get from seeing people having a good time is what it’s all about.
I have worked here since May 2014.
I was attracted to this particular role because it was an opportunity to work for an iconic global brand and specialise in a genre that really interested me.
Not many people know that I was recently executive producer of a track, signed to Low Steppa’s Simma Black records.
The best event I’ve been involved with was... Last year we held a guest residency at the Cavalli Club in Dubai. The venue is incredible and impeccably run. The crowd and the vibe in the place are also unreal. I’ve never seen so much champagne purchased in one evening.
If I could do it all over again I would have worked harder in my piano and guitar lessons. I would have made a brilliant rock star.
The one thing I can’t stand is dishonesty. It’s an unfortunate part of this business.
Outside of work I spend my time with my wife and daughter. Family is the most important thing anyone can have.
If money were no object I would buy Manchester United – my second love after music.
If I could switch places with anyone else in the industry it would be James Barton [president of electronic music at Live Nation], he has reached a pinnacle that I aspire to reach one day. His recent achievement in the Billboard Power Players list [where he was ranked number one] has to be respected.
If I ruled the event industry I would remove the politics and really encourage people to support each other for the good of the industry and the paying customer. Healthy competition is good and can breed amazingly creative ideas, but play nice!
