Fielding spoke to Event about the importance of old-school values such as authenticity and team spirit, her involvement with fundraising pop-up Quintessentially Soho, and her desire to see industry professionals get paid for pitches.
I got into the event industry because I thought I would be good at it. Event management seemed to have many of things that I loved about producing big club tour nights but with distinctly better hours.
I have worked here since November 2005, when we founded the company.
I was attracted to this particular role because… My role has developed as the company has grown but I guess I have always found it natural to be front-and-centre.
I have a passion for detail and creativity so it’s great to focus on making impressive things happen, but I’m also big on old-school values like authenticity, first class service delivery and team spirit.
Not many people know that I love peace and quiet.
The best event I’ve been involved was... It’s between Omega House 2012 and Quintessentially Soho, a fundraising pop-up that led to the establishment of the House of St Barnabas, the world’s first philanthropic members' club.
If I could do it all over again I would… Still do it all with my business partner, Caroline Hurley. Plus I'd say no to that late notice nightmare wedding!
The one thing I can’t stand is bad attitudes.
Outside of work I spend my time trying to enjoy as much of life as I can, by eating well, sleeping well and the rest.
If money were no object I would definitely buy a private island in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
If I could switch places with anyone else in the industry it would be , who must have a great overview of all the brilliant things happening or waiting to happen around town. I also think being part of an Olympic opening/closing ceremony team would be awesome.
If I ruled the event industry I would have us get paid for pitches.
