Unexpected presents were delivered to people planning to give up their Christmas’ to ensure access to essential goods and services. They included street cleaners at Hounslow Council, midwives at Whittington Hospital Maternity Ward, baggage handlers at Southend Airport and volunteers at the North Paddington food bank.
Also rewarded was Brenda Matthews, who has volunteered every Christmas Day for the past 30 years. The brand surprised her with a £2,000 voucher to pay for flights to see her family in Australia.
Visa Europe worked with content creation and distribution company The 10 Group to stage the stunt.
Nick Jones, head of corporate social responsibility at Visa Europe, said: "Our Christmas video is intended to help recognise and thank those who will be working to help others over the festive period.
"Supporting good causes and our local community is something that’s important to us as an organisation, and this Christmas thank you represents just one small part of our wider corporate social responsibility and volunteering programme."
