Devised by agency Mission Media, the stunt was filmed and uploaded to YouTube as video content by We Are Films last Wednesday (17 December).
The brand reunited US-born Lani, who lives in Manchester, with her family in Chicago for Christmas for the first time in 14 years. After flying Lani over to America, Mission created a makeshift version of her home in the UK in a van outside her father’s house in Illinois.
She then Skyped her family from the installation before knocking on the door and surprising them with herself and her daughter.
The stunt forms part of Microsoft Lumia’s #MakeItHappen campaign, which aims to help members of the public fulfil their New Year resolutions throughout December. The initiative kicked off in late November with a l on the River Thames.
