Organised by the London Chinatown Chinese Association, this was the largest celebration of its kind outside of Asia.
The festivities commenced with a morning parade around the West End, followed by a traditional Eye Dotting ceremony at midday to mark the official start of the day’s entertainment, including lion dances, fireworks and a variety of special performances by world-renowned acts from across China and the UK.
Highlights included performances from acclaimed Hong Kong born singer-songwriter Emmy The Great and tenor star Paul Potts taking to the main stage, as well as traditional Chinese music, dance and acrobatics.
The streets of China Town were at the centre of the celebrations, with the area lined with lively stalls selling traditional crafts and food. Visitors were treated to a gravity-defying Flying Lion Dance by the Chen Brothers, and the day of celebrations was rounded off with a fireworks display in Trafalgar Square.
