20th Century Fox hired PR agency Belt & Braces to produce a prank featuring two mischief-making policemen to promote the studio's latest film Let's Be Cops.

Filmed via hidden cameras, the stunt sees two actors dressed as policemen getting members of the public to perform a range of embarrassing tasks, such as reciting the lyrics to Wannabe by the Spice Girls and Baby Got Back by Sir Mix A Lot, as well as framing them for drugs possession.

The video of the stunt has already received more than 26,000 views on YouTube since it was uploaded on 21 August.

Phil Savage, founder and director of Belt & Braces, told Event the movie studio was impressed by the humour of his company's pitch. "20th Century Fox loved the idea immediately but didn’t think we’d be able to get it past the powers that be at the Metropolitan Police," Savage explained. "But it turned out they couldn’t have been more accommodating."

The PR agency worked with film production company Red Pill to film the scenes with eight hidden cameras and create a viral video. "The day of shooting could not have gone any better," Savage said. "Once we had developed the script it was simply a case of finding the two actors that we felt had the chemistry and the dry wit to pull off the material."

"We’ve had a great response online for the video with national and movie news portals running the content online," he added.
