WINNER: Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC)
The past year has been busy for the team at the SECC, which has a combined experience of 29 years staging events.
A focal point of the recent Commonwealth Games, the building was also used to host the Liberal Democrat Autumn Conference last September and saw the launch of the 13,000-capacity SSE Hydro arena the same month, celebrated with a gig by Rod Stewart. September also marked the opening of restaurant and bar The Clydebuilt Bar & Kitchen. Add to this a further 214 events, 60 conferences, 33 exhibitions and 121 concerts and live productions for an estimated 1.5 million visitors over the qualifying period.
A restructure to integrate the sales and events teams last year has seen the venue go from strength to strength, with a 16.3% increase in turnover to £23.3m and an improved client retention of 83%.
