Euro RSCG holds on to £6m DoH flu immunisation task

LONDON – The Department of Health has reappointed Euro RSCG London to its £6m flu immunisation account after a final two-way pitch.

COI Communications began the review in June, when it invited three agencies to compete with Euro RSCG for the brief. HHCL/Red Cell and Publicis were knocked out in the first round, leaving a final shootout between Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy and the incumbent.

Euro RSCG will now work on a campaign to run the autumn as the government prepares to push its flu immunisation message.

The immunisation campaign typically targets the over-65s and other at-risk groups but this year it will be widened to target healthcare professionals and younger groups who may have chronic conditions and are harder to reach.

Euro RSCG won the account in 2000 and its work has previously featured former heavyweight boxer Sir Henry Cooper.

A spokesperson for the Department of Health said: "The flu campaign messages are as vital as ever. We cannot be complacent and assume that the low levels of winter flu we have seen in previous years will continue."

The media planning brief, held by ZenithOptimedia, was unaffected by the review.
