Estrella signs sponsorship deal with Spanish film festival

LONDON - Catalan beer brand Estrella Damm is sponsoring the London Spanish Film Festival, which takes place over a fortnight in September.

Estrella, which means star in Spanish, is famous for being the beer of Barcelona, where it has been brewed since 1876.

It has not previously been widely marketed or distributed in the UK, but in March Grupo Damm signed an agreement for Budweiser company Anheuser-Busch to import it into the country.

The brand has a heritage of arts sponsorship in Spain, tying in with its association with the film festival in London. It is sponsoring a screening of 'Alatriste', which stars Viggo Mortensen, where the beer will be available for the audience to try. Other screenings where Estrella Damm will be available include 'Hecuba' and 'Concursante'.

This is the third year of the London Spanish Film Festival, and takes place at the Cine Lumiere in South Kensington.

Estrella Damm is distributed by Anheuser-Busch in Europe. It is available in bars and pubs, as well as Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Tesco and Thresher.
