
The former England captain and team manager made his studio debut during Sunday's live coverage of West Ham United v Tottenham. He will be broadcasting alongside former BBC presenter Ray Stubbs, who joined ESPN in July.
Russia and former Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink will be in the studio with Stubbs on selected matches throughout the season.
ESPN, which is majority-owned by Disney, secured the rights to 46 Barclays Premier League games for the 2009/10 season, following the closure of Setanta's UK business in June.
ESPN is understood to have paid about £250m to air the 46 games for the 2009/2010 season and 23 games in each of the three following seasons.
ESPN is available on Sky, Virgin, BT Vision, Top Up TV, Tiscali and UPC in Ireland.
