ESPN to provide VoD content for Go!View

LONDON - ESPN Classic, the sports channel focused on seminal moments in sport, is to provide content for Go!View, the official PlayStation portable VoD service in the UK and Ireland.

Launched in July, Go!View is a joint venture between Sony and Sky that enables users to transfer video-on-demand content from PC to PSP.

Distributors already involved in the service includes BBC Worldwide, National Geographic, Sky Sports, Sony Pictures Television International, NBC Universal and Disney-ABC-ESPN Television.

Themed content packages are available by monthly subscription, or individual programmes can be bought on a pay-per-programme basis.

ESPN Classic launched in March 2006 in the UK on Sky, featuring a mix of classic highlights, matches, movies, interviews, profiles and documentaries. Every month up to 20 hours of content will be added to the Go!View service.

The announcement comes as the Disney-backed broadcaster prepares to rebrand its European pay-TV channel North American Sports Network as ESPN America, giving Disney its first ESPN-branded live sports presence in Europe.
