The event will be aired over the Christmas prime time period by ITV and will take place at the Imperial War Museum on 15 December. It will be attended by royalty, military chiefs and celebrities from film, TV and sport.

The occassion is billed as an opportunity for the UK to honour its armed services for their efforts, bravery and sacrifices in a "lavish, star studded" award ceremony.

Last year's inaugural event - The Millies - was staged at Hampton Court Palace. The event was broadcast on Sky 1 and was attended by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, stars of stage and screen, military chiefs as well as the honoured members of the armed forces.

The Imperial War Museum will close for the day of the event to allow for build time.

"This is a spectacular event which we are proud to work on for a second year for a great cause which we all feel passionately about. A new venue and a limited build time are the challenge we face this year - but we are very excited about producing another fantastic night for all concerned in this very special ceremony," said an ESC Events spokesperson.
