The company has approached several digital specialist agencies in the UK ahead of an overhaul of its consumer website early next year.
Epson is believed to be keen to roll out an e-commerce portal that will promote its range of printers and ink cartridges across European, Russian and Arabic territories. It also intends to sell its range of scanners, photo viewers and home-cinema equipment through the site.
The company plans to create a digital presence based on the concept of 'innovation in imagery'; online currently accounts for about 5% of Epson's total sales.
Earlier this year, Epson launched a product-demonstration campaign in major shopping centres in the UK to promote its PictureMate 240 compact printer. The activity offered people a voucher enabling them to buy the device at £30 less than its retail price of £100. The work was the first to be created by Gekko since being appointed to the Epson account in April.
