Emap sells French B2B exhibition business

LONDON - Emap has completed the sale of its French B2B exhibition business, Agor, to GL events for a cash consideration of £57.5m.

Agor's business comprises the retail trade exhibitions Tradexpo, Print'Or, Orhopa, CFIA and MDD. Emap first entered the French exhibition market in 2003 through the acquisition of Agor, owner of Tradexpo, and has built the business through the acquisition of Print'Or in 2003, the launch of Orhopa in 2005 and the acquisition of Jangil in 2005.

In the year to March 31 2007, the business had revenue of £13m and operating profit of £4.4m.

Derek Carter, chief executive of Emap Communications, said: "Over the last four years, Emap has invested some €50m in building Agor into an important player in the French trade exhibition market and in selling the business we have been successful in realising significant value for shareholders, delivering a substantial return on our original investment."
