Bartlett will report directly to managing director Dave King and take a place on the Emap Advertising board alongside King, magazine sales director Teresa Coligan and broadcast sales director Tim Bleakley.
She will be responsible for looking after existing clients as well as helping them and potential advertisers to identify new business opportunities.
The appointment is part of Emap's continuing strategy to develop its relationship with media agencies and King's objective to focus on customer service, which he set out last year.
According to King: "Customer service has been a crucial part of our business plan in 2002 and we are extremely pleased with the results. The reaction from clients and the industry has been extremely positive and we are keen to continue our solid commitment to ensuring Emap Advertising remains a customer-centric business in 2003."
The heads of each market sector that Emap Advertising sells space for, such as the men's and music, and women's and youth, will now report straight to Coligan following Bartlett's promotion.
The appointment follows the last week's shake-up at Emap Advertising's senior management team that saw Emap hire Granada Enterprises agency sales controller John Judge as head of radio sales negotiations. His predecessor in the role, David Hipkiss, stepped across to take on the role of trading director across all platforms.
An announcement about a new agency sales controller for magazines is also expected shortly.
