Emap picks digital creative director

Emap Performance has appointed former Empire editor Colin Kennedy as its first digital creative director.

He will work with brand owners across Emap Consumer Media and Emap Radio to lead the digital development of new and existing brands.

Kennedy was previously editor-in-chief of Empire and at the start of this year also took over publishing duties on the film magazine from Mark Elliott, who left to join the Brooklands Group.

He joined the magazine in 2000 after a stint at Smash Hits! and became editor in 2002.

Emap will appoint a new editor in the autumn, but has not yet announced plans to hire a publisher.
