The publishing giant announced that it has acquired Torcello Publishing, the publisher of the Journal, for a total cash consideration of up to £20m.
Infrastructure Journal is aimed at contractors, layers and consultants, government ministers and local council officials and claims a worldwide audience, with around a third of readers based in Europe and another third in North America.
The move is the latest in a string of Emap acquisitions in specialist markets. Last week, it bought Next Gen Publishing, an Indian publisher and current licensee of the Indian edition of Car magazine. In May, it acquired GroundSure, an environmental risk information service.
Derek Carter, chief executive of Emap Communications, said: "Infrastructure Journal is a great addition to our portfolio of business critical information services. It is highly complementary to our existing brands in the sector and we look forward to working with the team to leverage opportunities to grow and develop the business."
