Emap appoints new editor at Mixmag

LONDON - Emap has promoted Viv Craske as editor of its leading dance music and clubbing magazine Mixmag.

Craske, 28, has been acting editor of the magazine for three months. He took over the post when it was left open by Tom Whitwell, who moved over to become deputy editor of The Face soon after Neil Stevenson, also a former Mixmag editor, was appointed editor of the style monthly.

Craske joined Mixmag as editor in April 2000 and became senior editor in September. Before joining Emap, he was senior sub-editor at Dennis Publishing's Maxim.

His journalism career began on Ministry magazine, where he was part of the launch team. While working on the magazine, he rose to the post of music editor.

Craske has already started shaping up the Mixmag team. He has promoted Gavin Herlihy to the post of music editor from news editor, and promoted Paul French to features editor from clubs editor.

He said: "There's a lot of talent on the Mixmag team and I'm looking forward to working with them to develop new ideas for the future."

In the last round of ABCs, Mixmag's held on to the top dance music magazine title despite its circulation dropping 5.5% year on year to 100,277.
