Attendees will also include Microsoft's chief executive Satya Nadella, Google's chief executive Larry Page and chairman Eric Schmidt, Amazon chief executive Jeff Bezos, and the bosses of Oracle and Cisco, according to  IBM's chief executive, Ginni Rometty, will also attend. Rometty is an advisor on Trump's business forum.

It isn't clear what the luminaries will discuss with the future president, but it's thought the agenda could include topics of concern to Silicon Valley, such as immigration, antitrust and user data and privacy.

The meeting comes after invitations came from Trump's transition team, including the controversial Peter Thiel. The PayPal co-founder generated considerable opprobrium after coming out in favour of Trump.

There are few prominent Silicon Valley figures who supported Trump publicly. Sheryl Sandberg was reportedly considered for a top job with Hillary Clinton's cabinet, while Bill Gates and Tim Cook ran a fundraiser for her. Trump, for his part, has slammed Apple for apparently sending jobs abroad, and said Amazon was "getting away with murder" on tax.
