EICC lays first foundations for its £85m expansion

Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) has laid the foundations for its £85m expansion that includes a new 2,000sqm multi-purpose main hall.

"We are on schedule for a Spring 2013 opening and with work on the new space well underway we anticipate a steady stream of qualified new business enquires for a much enlarged EICC at EIBTM," EICC head of events Karen Wood.

The expansion, that includes separate Grade A Offices, is a development partnership of City of Edinburgh Council, Scottish Enterprise and Edinburgh International Conference Centre.

Events at the EICC will be largely unaffected as almost all of the major construction work takes place on an adjacent site.
