EHS Brann picks up £6m News Group DM

News Group Newspapers has moved its £6 million UK direct marketing account for The Sun and the News of the World from Tequila\London to EHS Brann without a pitch.

The decision mirrors the one made in June 2005 to move its £20 million ad account from TBWA\London into Euro RSCG London after a pitch that also involved Saatchi & Saatchi and Publicis.

Since the creative agency move, News Group has begun looking for a more integrated approach to its communications under its marketing director, Roland Agambar. EHS presented a direct marketing strategy to work alongside the advertising, which resulted in its appointment. Tequila is currently working out its notice and the account is expected to move next month.

Both newspapers are fighting falling readerships. In March this year, the News of the World's circulation was down 1.9 per cent year on year. The Sun fell 1.1 per cent to 3,110,999 copies, its lowest figure since January 1974.
